Welcome to a trouly wild 48-hour Mountain Kayak Fishing Competition!
– BACK TO BASIC STYLE –
Mountian Madness is a 48-hour kayak fishing battle to decide who is the Quen or King of the mountains! In order to fill your paper you have ot catch the five species PIKE, PERCH, TROUT, CHAR and GRAYLING. Longest scoring card winns!
In the way it is set up as a ”Back to Basic”-style competition where you fish for five species, it is the first competition of it´s kind in this region.
To register for the Mountain Madness competition you simply join the group Mountain Madness in this community site. The competition will be arranged through that group and that is where all catches shall be registered when the competition goes live.

When?
27 / 6 , 09.00 – 29 / 6 – 2023 , 10.00
The competition starts at 09.00 June 27 with a captains meeting at the campsite in Särna. After the captains meeting, approximately at 10.00, the competition starts.
It then ends at 10.00 June 29. At this time all competitors shall have taken theire kayaks and fishing gear out of the water, and have reported all theire catches*.
Competitors can fish for the whole duration of the competition WITHOUT having to check in somewhere in person.
*If cellphone coverage (internet) does not work where you fish, all catches shall be reported as soon as you have retained cellphone coverage.

All lakes that are included in the license for fishing in the area are also included in the competition.

We all meet up and stay at Särna Campsite during the competition.
What´s included in the start fee?
The start fee is 700 Swedish Krona for the team of two (2) persons. Start fee is not refundable.
Explanation regarding the start fee
The start fee includes Swedish tax of 140 Swedish Krona and 25 Swedish Krona for costs involwing booking and payment system. That leaves 535 Swedish Krona for the cash price to be halfed, so 267,50 Swedish Krona x the teams that competes will be the cash price.
If the competition goes live with its 15 teams as a minimum for the competition, the cash price will be 4.012 Swedish Krona per team.
Pricetable
– 1st placed team winns 50%* of the competitions start fee. AND will get a ticket for two to attend and compete in Kajakfiskemagazinets final of Årets Kajakfiskare 2023.

– 2nd placed team winns fishing gear or other hardware used when fishing. Actual price not set yet.

There will also be a raffle with prices to be raffled out between attenders not listed as 1st, 2nd or 3rd price winners.
Rules
First of all, you can only register to this competition as a kayak angler and belly boat/float tube angler. Meaning this is a competition for kayak fishing, although you are allowed to fish from land where kayak fishing is not possible, but only then, which means that you are not allowed to compete by land fishing only.
Not allowed to be used in the competition are:
– ALL Electronics. Such as sonars and fishfinders and drones etc.
It is allowed to check maps in a cell phone of the area and depth maps of waters (if there are any) before and during the competition. This is allowed so competitors are able to set up plans for theire fishing before and during the 40 hours of fishing.
– Any form of motor, except for manual drives you pedal yourself.
-Fishing with any form of live bait! Dead or Alive!
-Trolling
Allowed methods of fishing are:
– Spin Fishing
– Fly fishing
– Vertical Fishing. Vertical Fishing WITHOUT ELECTRONICS LIKE SONAR OR FISHFINDER, that is.
– Competitors fish in teams where a team is made up of two (2) persons, and to be qualified the team has to fish together the whole time of the competition.
This rule is set mostly to not compromise with the security, and if you don´t have anyone to team up with you have the possibility to find one here in the site community. Join the group of the competition and ask. If you then can not find a team mate, you are allowed to withdraw from the competition.
– Five (5) species needs to be registered in order to get a full score card.

Minimum length in parentheses
– Pike (75 cm)
– Perch (30 cm)
– Trout (30 cm)
– Char (30 cm)
– Grayling (30 cm)
Should not all, or only some, of the minimum lengths of species be met by any of the competitors, a full scoring card (that has all species registered) still count as a registered catch in the competition. The number of registered species is then added together with the minimum lengths obtained. Also in this case, the length of all registrations will be added together and apply. That is, the longest scoring card wins.
Register a catch
– In order to get a registered fish approved, the angler that has not caught the fish needs to film the angler that has made the catch when he or she holds the catch against the messuring tape.
– Final registration of catch needs to be reported before the end of the competition.
– Fishing is allowed at all times during the competitions 48 hours.
Reporting to the management of the competition
– A report to the competition management must be submitted when ending of fishing in the competition. Such report must take place no later than the specified end time for the competition in order to be approved in the competition.
Quitting or other parting from the competition, before the end of the competition, also needs to be reported to the competition management.
– Position for fishing must always be reported to the competition management. When changing to another water, this must also be reported. Location service must be active in all participants’ cell phones at all times.
Positions etc. will only come to the attention of the management of the competition and are there to ensure safety and to ensure correct registrated catch.
